We are a husband and wife (and baby boy) team of rat enthusiasts. The idea for Queen City Rattery stemmed for our love and minor obsession for pet rats. Not a day goes by that we are not brought to smiles by our rattie children.
Rat breeding has been a hot topic with us for years and are pleased to finally have a hand in improving the "fancy" pet rat population. Our goals for this rattery put temperament and health above all else. Longevity follows close behind, with appearance being last on the list BUT still very important to us. Eventually we would like to work with a small group of rat breeders in Charlotte, North Carolina and across the country to successfully produce rats with the average life span of five years. It will, of course, take us years to be where we hope to be but in the mean time it is our hope that through well planned litters, using carefully selected rats we will be able to offer healthy, affectionate, long living rats to the Charlotte area.
As far as our goals for the physical appearance of the rats born at QCR, we will be focusing on Ruby Eyed Siamese, Himalayan and most of the "red" tones, in rex and standard coat with dumbo and top ears. Golden Himalayans are one of our ultimate goals for appearance. From time to time we will be breeding in rats of other colors to improve the health, temperament and longevity of our lines.

**Update March 2011**
Our goals for the physical appearance of our rats has shifted a little. We are in the process of breeding the Top Ear gene out of our lines, as we've decided to focus primarily on Dumbo ears. Also, we've decided to put our Himalayan line on hold and focus more on perfecting our Siamese. We've added Russian Dove, Hairless and Rex to our rattery and are looking forward to these breedings.
